Question snort error: newly created file is older than distributed files!

I downloaded\Untared snort and when I compiled it I got :

creating cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... configure: error: newly
created file is older than distributed files!

Check your system clock

does anybody know what time it is? does anybody really care?

yes, check your system clock... i think that's all i have for you. i guess the file could be corrupted somehow and have the wrong date on it, but i don't know exactly how that works.
