SNMP and syslog

Is it possible to configure the RHEL 5.5 syslog to accept SNMP traps? That is I want to use a central logging server to pick up other systems syslogs, and SNMP messages from systems that cannot use remote syslog functions.

Google is being a pain with this simple(?) question.

Yes - install net-snmp, net-snmp-utils packages - they include things like snmpwalk.

You can also configure syslogd syslog messages from one server to another.

currently have syslogd/syslog aggregating to a central server, but there are cases where i need to capture snmp, checking out those tools now, hopefully they can capture and dump entries to the logging servers syslog

If nothing else you should be able to use the "logger" command to pipe desired output from the snmp utilities into syslog.
