shorewall firewall problem

runing mandrake 10.1

I have manage to setup my cable modem to access the internet .. I can only seem to browse the internet with the shorewall firewall truned off.

anyhow can someone help me? oh how i can rectify this problem

Can you do other things with the firewall on, like ping hosts on the internet or browse using IP addresses instead of URLs?
