setting password levels

hey guys

we're gonna change the password policy on a few of our linux servers, and we want to set a hierarchical password scheme. the idea is that level1 passwords will gove you so many rights, level 2 a bit more, on up to level 5 being root. Is there a way to deploy something like this, and how would it affect applications already installed on the server? Do i merely need to set a users lassword to the minimum needed level for his app? any idea's im open too. unfortuanly i don't havea lab environment to tes this in, so its gonna need to be right the first time.

As far as I know, there is no such thing in linux. In linux there is only two kind of users: the root, and can be only one, and the regular users.

To distribute the overload beetween several co-workers in the TI department, you can use the sudo (or the most advanced program named op) to delegate specific jobs by allow them to issue specific commands that are necessary to execute that job.
