Server Comprimised... Need to select new OS?

Hi, In my other earlier thread I found out that my remote server had been comprimised...

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=323174

Now I have the lovely job of being able to start fresh! My old machine was running Redhat9... for the new machine I would like to ask for some advice on what to go with?

Stable and secure would be first on the list... I need to run an Oracle DB, Apache webserver, Tomcat, Webalizer, Sendmail, ...pretty much all the standard server stuff.

Hopefully this new OS will be rite along the lines with Redhat9 so that I don't have to learn too much to get this setup again.

Tech support was telling of some OS called Centos (version 4)... has anyone heard of this?

TIA

:)

CentOS is a rebuild of Redhat Enterprise Linux from sources. You will therefore be running an enterprise class distro (for nothing but a donation would be good).

Why not use 4.0?

I see, anyway its a stable distro and many people are still using it since 4.0 only come out a few months ago.
