Security Practices

Good Morning Everyone,
Wondering what kinda of security procedures everyone practices. Trying to get a better understanding and learn what to look for.

I have Fedora 11 installed on my laptop, the Firewall and SELinux are both enabled, critical updates are installed, I have unnecessary services such as SSH and HTTPD disabled....but I feel I need to learn more about tightening up my security and in addition what I need to look for.

I understand that the best security is not to have a computer connected to the Internet however since I am connected to the internet I need to take a proactive approach to learn more on the security side.

How often should I be looking at log files? And which ones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

It is highly dependent on what you are doing with Fedora, as in server or desktop. I assume desktop for you. So try to think about the likelihood of certain events based on what you have open to the world and tailor your level of effort toward that. Here's a basic guide I found just now using google.

It's a nice one, those Fedora Security Practices, but it covers about half of it. Anyone care to post a more complete or additional resource?
