Security +, CISSP and other Certs

I took the Security + plus from COMPTIA and went in there pretty arrogant because of my IT backround and found this test a little harder than normal. Well to make a long story short, I failed with flying colors. I used Sybex Security + and found it to be rather interesting but it is very general in terms of studying for the test. After I failed the test I and a friend of mine purchased the transcender security + practice test to study and that same friend went to take the exam again and failed just barely. He missed it my 50 points. Can anyone recommend anything else that we may need to pass this #$#$ test. Also I take it that the CISSP will be a lot harder. Any input on that would great appreciated as well!

You can bet that the CISSP is MUCH MUCH harder than the Security +. The CISSP covers a broad amount of topics but doesn't go into so much depth AND it is very much geared toward managers. The sheer amount of topics covered is daunting. The coursework (my employer paid for the training and cert) was grueling, IMO...and I resigned before taking the exam.

hi metallica1973,

you cant take a CISSP exam without any sponsorship.
such as from your customers, boss, etc.
they (your boss & customers) will have to approve your works prior taking the test.
you must have at least years of field/working experiences, create the resume, and send them.

cheers.

rossonieri#1 is correct. I'm sorry I neglected to elaborate. You definitely have to have at least 5 years in a security-oriented field and have some type of sponsorship.

Also, be prepared to pay a substantial exam fee (I believe around $400, last I checked).
