Securing FTP


Dear All

I am afraid that am facing burt force attack on ftp
i have check log file and have found too many faild attempts
how could i secure FTP or if here any pro like DenyHosts ( secure SSH)

and another q:

I wanna get red from shell scripts ( php - cgi )

I guess i have change permission for /bin/bash to 770 is that ok ?
am already install mod_security and securing php

For ftp:
1) Put strong passwords
2) Use fail2ban
