Securing debian without Internet connection
Hi,
I have a debian installed without an Internet connection. I would like to have it updated with the security patches. How can I do it? Thank you, abolos |
Buy some pigeons?
:p more seriously, buy a cd or go to a friend and dl the newer versions.. |
Are the updates grouped together or I have to download them all going back to year 2005? Hard work :-(
Any help for a whole update packages? Thanks, abolos |
Buy a CD, here is a list of vendors:
http://www.us.debian.org/CD/vendors/ Here in my country, I can get the 2 DVDs for 15€ If I were you, I would wait for the next stable release (Debian GNU/Linux 4.0); which should arrive in January. Needs patience Then, either you re-install or you upgrade by making your sources.list pointing to the cd/dvd player and change in the same file the "sarge" keyword to "etch" keyword. and apt-get dist-upgrade (good luck) |
Thanks nx5000. It seems you are always available.
I was happy to hear about stable release (Debian GNU/Linux 4.0). Thanks again. |
