Question Searching For Encrypted Zip Files

Dear Linux Users,

I was wondering if anybody knows if there is an easy way to search for encrypted zip files in a directory (recursively), preferably without having to download and/or purchase software ?

Also, what is the best open-source/freeware zip-file password cracker around for linux ?

Thanking you in advance,

Jules

Listing zip archives doesn't trigger the password warning but testing (unzip -t) does. So use 'find', pipe the output through 'file' (unless you're the kind of user that has the strong belief you *need* an extension on a file under GNU/Linux) and 'grep -q Zip.arch' and use unzip on that with a bogus password (-P ""). That's barely three lines of shellscript. BTW, in what way is this a Linux Security issue?

Cracking is not a topic we discuss on LQ, it is against the LQ Rules. Please find another forum for that.

UnSpawn, thanks for the advice - I was not sure if I should have put the question(s) under Linux-General or not.

Regarding the cracker(s), my apologies...
[ I do indeed agree with your comments, though ]

Cheers,

J.
