Samba security ?

hi, is it actually nessecery to run the samba daemon if all I need to do is mount a windows nfs ? I dont need to run shares from my machine, I just want to mount an mp3 share from my windoze media box onto my nix machine ?

ps. also is there ANY way of disabling the ability to log in using a NULL session ?

No you would just be using the samba client.
