router will not save settings in Linux

Hey all,

I'm running GNOME under Fedora Core 5. I've been allocated a static IP (public) address and domain name for my server.

I've also added a US Robotics 8004 router to my setup in order to bolster security. The router holds my static IP and provides NAT to help protect the server from attacks.

However, when I go into its web interface to change the settings from default, and then hit "save," my Firefox browser tries to download some file called "gorilla.cgi." Any idea what that could be?

It also isn't saving my settings, not even if I reboot the router, much less the Linux box behind it. I've tried changing my browser settings, thinking it might have something to do with cookies or whatnot, but nothing seemed to help.

Any ideas?

I sumitted a tech support request to USR, but I'm not hopeful of getting any help from them. I suspect that while any modern OS speaks TCP/IP, they're not going to assist me since I am not running Windows or Mac OS. I am really hoping someone on here might have encountered a similar issue.

You shouldn't have mentioned that you were using a 'non-standard' OS.

Uhm...right...but do you have any insight into solving my issue? There's no mention of it on the USR site or here at the forums. I guess I can try Google, but that seems like a wild goose chase.

I've had similar problems with non-IE browsers and those web interfaces from several different brands of routers (I remember Linksys was one off the top of my head). You may want to try installing Opera and see if that makes a difference (it reports itself as IE to the http daemon and it may render the page/form more like IE.

Ditto. My Linksys WRT54GX won't render pages correctly in FF - in fact several of the fields I needed to update didn't even show up. I use an old laptop with Win2k and IE6 to configure it.
For initial setup had to be via cat5 as I had a clash on (wireless) gateway addresses.
