Root account expired, sort of....

I'm running Mandrake 9.0 and KDE. From the KDE login screen I can login as root and access the system fine. However, when I am in a console and try to su to root from any account (including root), I get an "account expired" error message.

For example, I login to KDE as root (or any other user), bring up a console window, then type su -- I get the "account expired" error message.

Since I can login to KDE as root, the root account is not actually expired.

Not sure why this is happening -- any help would be appreciated.

One other note, I have security set to "high".

Thanks
-Rob

Could be msec, at least it does set passwd aging, even for root.
As root, if "chage -l" doesn't show proper expiry info try if you can "chage -d" the account a bit, and see if that worsk. "man chage" for more info.
