restrict number of logon attempts


Hello,

How do you restrict number of logon attempts on a ssh connection

There are two variable in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file:

# Maximum number of retries for authentication
MaxAuthTries 6
MaxAuthTriesLog 3

Doesn't work for me in 3.5.
What OpenSSH version did these directives appear in?

i tried it ... error service is not starting

Ok, I'm sorry for this...I found it in the Solars SSH-Config file and thought it would be the same as in OpenSSH.

any other suggestions ... the default is 6 times i would like to retrict to 2 times ...
