Reseting Root Password
 
Hey guys is there way to reset the root password, my linux box wont accept the root password that i enter, i must have typed it incorrectly during the instllation.

The easiest way is probably to boot the machine to a live/recovery CD, mount the system, and then wipe the root password from /etc/shadow. Then you can reboot, log in as root (there will be no password and create a new one.

If you're using Ubuntu I think it would be easier to boot in recovery mode, which appears in the boot menu. This will log you in as root automatically. You can then reset the password using passwd. Since Ubuntu doesn't have the root account enabled by default, I guess you're probably using CentOS though. Maybe this has a similar facility, have a look - try passing the option "single" to the kernel at boot time.
