red hats own firewall


im having problems with this..
its on high at the moment and its blocking everything I was wondering how can i make it able to accept certain ports?

or is their a better firewall i can use?

there is ONE firewall: iptables ( / ipchains ) What you think is a firewall is just an interface tool for iptables. personally i use firestarter, does a good enough job for me.

well i want it blocked from dos attacks as the other day it got attacked and took the whole connection now..

what ya think i should use ?

well you could always just learn to administer iptables yourself. see the howto at tldp.org

yup. use firestarter (http://firestarter.sourceforge.net). It's GUI based and has the wizard - just click and click and click for you desired settings.

I think the one that RH system is using is lokkit (your using ipchains) - it's very limited to basic setup.

firestarter is shipped with RH (if you have the boxed sets - i think it is in the 3rd party Applications CD).
