Problems installing nmap

i'm a n00b to linux and i'm trying to secure my network. I'd heard about an app called nmap which can scan your ports. I downloaded nmap and tried to install it using the command

"rpm -i"

I always get an error message after it, however, saying

"error: Failed dependencies:
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 is needed by nmap-3.50-1"

doesn anybody know what the problem is? Thanks much.

Then problem is that nmap depends on "libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3" being installed. If you install it before nmap them you shouldn't have a problem.
