Problem with FireWall??? please help!
 

I am having a problem with my firewall configuration. I have Redhat Linux 8.0 and an AMD k6/400 machine (test machine). I am trying to do anything with the firewall and I can't seem to make any progress. This is what happens: I open the Security Level Configuration Tool and attempt to make changes. The changes "appear" to take affect. I am asked if I would like to save the changes and I say yes. Then if I go back into the configuration application it has reverted to its original state. Is this normal? I would think not. I cannot get any access to this machine via telnet or http even though I turn it on. I have made the changes and restarted the server as well and I get the same issue. Is there a way to disable it completely? I have stopped the IPchains service and I still have no luck. Any help would be appreciated. thanks!!!

The tool is apparently working for Micro$oft... :D
You will find iptables is being used underneath... lokkit is the package...
Have a look at Firestarter and Shorewall packages instead. Much more usable...
