pre warn that cert window will open!

I have a self signed ssl cert on my server.
Is there a way to check if a users browser has my server cerificate already installed before directing the user/browser to the https url.
I like to let the user know that he will be presented with a new window and asked to accept or decline based on ...

Thank you

First of all please do not unnecessarily use larger font sizes. It's annoying. I fixed it.

Looking at it from a technical / site flow / functionality POV it does not make any sense to check for client certs server-side, because if a cert is stored locally the browser *will* check for it. If you want to put up an explanatory note, just embed it in the text on the landing page. If they don't "get" SSL then you should be wondering who / what you're providing SSL for. BTW, I don't think this is a security issue, but OK.
