In general, the more fast-terminating process you have the more likely that one will die in between the tests, so yes. The fact that you're running a liveCD and still seeing the hidden process message is pretty good evidence that it's nothing specific to your system, but rather an artifact generated by the way you're performing the test (running emerge while running chkrootkit).
