Possible keylogger?
 

Hi all,
I just signed up because in the last couple of years every time I needed some linux answer I found it on here so I thought it was the right place to ask my question. I am running OpenSuSE 11.1.

I know it will sound stupid (it does to me while I am typing) but something weird happened today. I was working and I typed the word "extension" in FF and right away I received an email about titled "All webassist extensions for Dreamweaver" (or something like that) from some "topica.com" website.

A couple of hours later I opened konsole, did su, and traceroute and... I receive an email in the very moment I press enter about a company named "TraceParts". Now, I got a bit worried. Is it possible there's some sort of keylogger to send targetted emails? Am I being just paranoid?

(I tried rkhunter and it returned no positives)

I think so

If you have a dedicated firewall, I would suggest logging into it and monitoring the traffic going through it from your host. You should be able to spot any communication which happens while you are typing stuff.

Thanks! I will do that. I tried monitoring traffic from my machine and did not notice anything weird, tomorrow I will monitor the firewall machine. And thanks repo too, I thought I was as well ;)
