the enigmail plugin will allow you to use GPG (which is the same as PGP from what I understand) in mozilla
see http://enigmail.mozdev.org/

I'm sorry, you'll have to be a little more descriptive. I got the enigmail program, now I have no clue how to get it going. I tried to create a key, it said It couldn't get to the enigmail server or something. I obviously didn't configure it right, since I didn't touch configure lol, but I don't know what to put and where.. an explanation or tutorial to a how to set up would be greatly appriciated.

yesh, the setup uisn't all that clear. strictly speacking, you didn't ask before so I toke the easy way out For starters, you'll need gpg. once you have it gpg --gen-key will create a key. you may need to reinstall enigmail after that, since it stops giving warnings/errors after a couple tries
take a look at http://enigmail.mozdev.org/help.html for more information and post again if you have more questions (try to be as specific as possible)

Sounds similar to my trouble. From what I have researched so far, engimail will work only if it compiled with the same gcc compiler (beats me, I don't know what it is) as was your Mozilla. So the crux of the matter is, where/how did you get your mozilla? And where/how did you get your enigmail?

For example, I run Libranet linux, which is basically debian. Mozilla suite came installed. But when I loaded the enigmail extension, I started getting same error messages as you are. That's because Debian "stock" mozilla was compiled with some different version of gcc than was the enigmail I can install easily from the mozdev page.

I'm still looking for a seamless way to integrate gpg with my Debian mozilla.

The things I read said you can compile your mozilla and your enigmail yourself--well beyond me.

I thought I might remove my debian-indiosyncratic mozilla and install "official" mozilla from www.mozilla.org. But when I set out to do that, many other changes would have been wreacked on my machine, so I chickened out and removed engimail.

Can you use another mail application?

Actually. I've had success in using it and it works flawlessly. I did what people told me to do. I used gpg to create a key which was stored in .gnupg. I loaded mozilla mail program and loaded the correct files into the program and I have it working.
