OpenVAS command line interface -- creating new scans

I've been researching this for a while, and have not made a lot of progress. The general omp usage guide shows a handful of switches, but no real examples of how to properly input parameters.

My current top priority is attempting to create new scans. I was looking at this thread:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?p=5740053

And I'm unsure where the author is getting those ID's from. GSA just generates them when one creates a new task/scan, but as far as I know, omp does not. I'd find it rather odd if we're just supposed to make them up.

I've also found an XML example or two on how to create a new scan, as seen here:

https://isc.sans.edu/forums/diary/Au...y+Scans/20685/

But it also seems to pull those ID's out of thin air. Moreover, I'd like to know how to properly pull XML data into the command line. It wouldn't make much sense to type all that XML data into the command line every time one wants to create a scan. Is there any more efficient way than just pasting it in with a mouse from a text file?

Thanks.

Nevermind. I didn't realize some of what was posted in the XML example was output and not input. It makes a lot more sense now. I've got it figured out.

Sorry to take up anyone's time.
