OpenSSH patch installation

Hi all!!
I downloaded OpenSSH 3.7.1 form its webstie and now I want to install on my Slackware 9 2.4.21

(BTW some1 has tried rpm2tgz on OpenSSH...3.7.1.rpm??)

The file I've downloaded is not a patch so I want to know, before make a trouble, if what I want to do is correct...
I think to uninstal old OpenSSH package and after install the new one...
Is it possible/correct??

I compiled 3.7.1 from source then used checkinstall to create the Slackware package and intstall it. After a quick restart of SSH (/etc/rc.d/rc.sshd restart) SSH was upgraded, at least according to ssh -version.

Btw, OpenSSH 3.7.1 is not OpenSSH 3.7.1p1.
P for "portable" or any OS not equals BSD.

That's what I was thinking...and the answer I need: I can install without uninstal the old version before!

You're right. I was just sloppy in my explanation.

If you want a Slackware package with the openssh updates, download it from here: ftp://ftp.kpn.be/pub/linux/slackware...7p1-i486-1.tgz

upgradepkg openssh%openssh-3.7p1-i486-1.tgz

Or something like that to upgrade.
