openning port 22 for ssh

When I type nmap <ipaddress> in a shell prompt, I get:

21/tcp open ftp
80/tcp open http

how do I open port 22 to accept a ssh login?

do you actually have an ssh daemon running to accept the connections ? the port will not show up as open unless there is something listening on it

man sshd

OK...

I checked out the man page. It looks like all you have to do is type sshd -p 22 and then restart the daemon and it should work right?

Why would you run the command to start the daemon and then want to restart it again?

sshd -p 22 will start it and have it listen on the default port of 22.. check your sshd_config as most of the time it is set to already listen and use port 22, no need to specify it really.
