Unhappy Open port in iptables and apf issue

Hello,
I installed Centos and it's iptables are enabled by default. how can I open the ports 21,22,25,80 and 110 in iptables so when I start the server ports are accesible.

I installed apf but it's giving me

iptables v1.2.11: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded

can anyone please suggest.
Thanks.

What does lsmod return? How about 'service iptables status' ? Make sure to run them both as root.
