Question No remote access.

Need help figuring out my remote access problem. RH7.2. No firewall. My Win2k box and Linux box are on the same subnet (through my ISP). I can login from my Win2k to Linux via ssh - no problem. I can also ping the Linux box no problem. When I login to a shell account at my ISP from my Win2k box, I can ping, portscan(nmap), and login via ssh to the Linux box. When I try any of these activities from a different remote host, I get nothing. I can't ping, portscan, login, nothing. What makes this weird is that when I login to the same shell account from say, work, I still can't access the Linux box in any way. I've been through most of the security docs at LDP and RedHat and still can't find the problem. I'm sure it's a config, but which one. (To add to the weirdness - this box used to be FreeBSD 4.5 - had same problem so moved to RH 7.2.)

Hmm, more likely this ain't for security but a question for the networking forum...

This "different remote host", would that be on a different IP range?
Where does a traceroute stop?
Logfiles showing rejects on the RH box?

Question

Sorry got the wrong forum but the networking from the console is just fine. All network tests from the box work. All but my windows box don't even see it. There are no logs with rejects because I have no firewall running and my syslog isn't logging connection attempts yet (I bet that would be a good idea though). And yes those other "remote hosts" would be located on different subnets of the same class IP (all connects are attempted from the same cable ISP). I will repost to networking forum and include this info - thanks for the reply.
