no firewall alerts - firestarter

Fedora Core 3
firestarter-1.0.1-1 installed from rpm

Sorry if this is a trivial question but I have not received a single alert under the events listing. It would be nice to think there isn't anything fishy going on but that's a little unrealistic. I've gone to some online security scanners and they haven't brought up a listing under the events either. I am behind a home wireless router. Is there anyway which I can trigger an alert just to make sure the firewall is working and quell my paranoia? Thanks for any advice.

The router is also acting as a firewall so firestarter does not register hits. so consider that a good sign that the router is working good too, and with firestarter you have another layer of protection for anything that gets past the router...

The only thing I can think of is, maybe unplugging your router and connecting your computer directly to your ISP and them go and test the firewall against SheildsUp.
