New install, strange behavior
I booted up my machine running SuSE 9.2 Pro, full install. New install as of two days ago, too.
I was AFK but heard the drive start grinding away. I used KDE system guard to look at processes and saw a few things I did not understand.
On the root level there was a FIND running on the drive. I noticed a few cron events going but I have not configured any myself.
Total newb here, and I am very perplexed.
I started a new session as root to kill the processes, but was not able to...I then yanked the ethernet cable and the find stopped.
I have a Linksys router I got from vonage as my firewall, and the firewall is not compiled into the kernal.
Any ideas? Clues? things to look for?
EDIT: I went in to check networking in yast and the NIS server was set up as a slave, which I dont recall turning on myself. I did set it up as primary once, but turned it off. Also, I did have samba server running, but i have now turned that off as well. thx
