nessus / scanner software pref free

I have a client who handed me a nessus scan detailed threat part with their options and their finds.

I am going to address them, but would like to re-scan w/o asking them ok try now, make changes, try now, etc.

I thought Nessus was free but not sure if want I want is. I don't want to go around scanning all over, just this one IP. I did download the mac version, installed, but that seems to be a 'home' server, where I think I want/need more of a client scanner. So is that free as well, if so what link would be best as on the product page I only see like enterprise dashboard type things. I just want to say 'scan this ip, tell me what you find'.

If that is not free, is there anything comprable that is?

Thanks.

There is a free (as in beer, too) Nessus clone called OpenVAS.

I have used OpenVAS, and there is a server component that needs to be installed and running.

Looks interesting. I started the download (guess no mirrors as I am getting horrible speed) but does look pretty cool. In 2+ hours I will have a test!

Thanks ....
