Need content filtering... (sensitive subject)

I'm not sure if this is considered a security question but I wasn't sure where else to post it.
Over the past week or so, whilst aimlessly browsing (admittedly adult orientated) sites, I have come across what appears to be child porn on 2 or 3 occasions.
It has started on pretty innocent sites and I've been clicking links at random and before long things have started taking a sinister turn, though I can't remember ever coming across this kind of thing before last week.
I can't say for certain it actually is, but from some of the descriptions on link portals/site lists it appears to be and in a couple of occasions I landed on sites that look decidedly dodgy. Needless to say I refrained from clicking on thumbnails in such portals and pages and in each case have shut down my browser immediately but I'm still quite disturbed to have even gotten to anything remotely like that, I would have thought it difficult enough for someone looking for it, let alone by accident.
Of course I should be more careful and pay attention to what I'm clicking on and not click on things willy nilly but I didn't think I needed to be.
Aside from the paranoid thoughts that I'm about to be raided at any moment, I have a baby of my own and it's the last thing I want hanging around my hard drive, now or in the future.
I stopped using p2p for exactly this reason.

So to get to the point, is there any kind of content filtering apps for linux that are either specifically designed to block child porn or anything that I can customize to add filters that will block any pages from loading that have certain keywords in? Or even any firefox extension that would do it?
I'm not looking to block adult content altogether, just crap like this.

And I thought banner ads were viruses were the worst things I had to deal with.

I haven't tested it on Unix (it works OK in Windows), but maybe using the /etc/hosts file to prevent porn ads may work:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

To make it working on Linux you'd have to rename HOSTS to /etc/hosts and maybe translate DOS text format to UNIX

I haven't had much experience with any kind of proxy software other than using tor/privoxy/proxomitron combo on windows for a couple of days but didn't really get the hang of it.
I've just installed and run tinyproxy and dansguardian, changed the connection settings in firefox and it just worked, all sorts of things getting blocked with the reasuring dansguardian label at the bottom.
It's a little too restrictive the I'd like at the moment but I'll get to work on that.
