My apache server has popups that aren't mine.

Hi there,

Relatively new to linux and last week built a webserver using Suse 10.0 which was all working fine, and technically still is.

Last night I opened up port 80 and 22 on my router so I could SSH in from work and do a few bits, but now whenever I visit any pages on the site, it comes up with various pop ups, even if I create a brand new static page, it already has a pop up on it.

Thought it might be my machine at work, but tried from a couple of others, and it only does it on my site.

Does this mean someone's hacked my server in the 12 hours it been on the internet? Is there any way I can remove this, I can't find much on google and figure I might have other questions at some point so this forum was good.

I have just noticed when I visit, IE says its trying to open a page http://[my website].com/pop-src-page.script..

Its just shame that as soon as you learn a small bit of apache you have to learn a lot of security.

Well, as soon as you have a webserver, you have to think of security.
Maybe CrossSite Scripting? Do you have a page that permits user to post a comment or do you have a database behind?

I think I figured out what it is, and I am relieved as well as annoyed, as it looks like my site hasn't been hacked (its an intranet so I only turned ssh on so I could do stuff from work)

My home network has a dynamic IP address which changes whenever I restart the router (ISP doesn't give statics) so I use zoneedit.com which allows me to change the IP on their website so my domain always works.

When I go directly to my IP address, no popups, but they are there when I use my domain name so looks like zonedit are putting the popups in on their redirect scripts, even though it's not mentioned at all anywhere on their website.

Just thought I would mention it, as although its not Linux related, it may be useful.

That is good to know. dyndns.com doesn't put popups in and they offer the same service.

dyndns does not charge for the service, you just have to use on of their domain names for the top level domain. ie domain.dyndns.org

I use no-ip.com for my DNS needs. It is free as well. I've never had a problem with them.
