Log messages


Running Suse 10

Reading /var/log/messages

I note the following entries

Jan 25 23:21:11 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 00:21:11 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 01:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 02:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 03:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 04:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 05:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 06:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0
Jan 26 07:21:12 linux syslog-ng[4446]: STATS: dropped 0

It looks more like a statistics message from syslog ng saying that's dropped 0 messages. There's similar data at http://www.splunk.com/base/eventtype:SP-CAAAA4W
