Pass linux single to your bootloader and set a new root and user password.

For root's:

passwd

For user:

passwd username

# Mandrake links
Mandrake home page
Mandrake Users website
Easy software management: Red Carpet
Maximum RPM
rpmfind
You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc

You should be able to hit a key to pass options as well. Watch the screen carefully upon boot.

Sorry, I use Grub.

If you go to an option and press e does it let you change it?
You just need to add single to your append= line. Not sure how to do it in text mode, but yes, it should give you a console on screen once it is done, all single user mode does is fire the system up, then instead of going multuser, fires up bash.
