LICQ file transfer/NAT firewall-router
I can't receive files with LICQ, but I can send them. A little googling has led me to believe it's because my firewall/router. Does anybody know what port I should open for this app, or how I can find out which one it needs?

Check out the LQ search results for "ICQ port firewall": http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...der=descending

Thanks unspawn.

Ahh. Those were basically the same results I got when I first searched here. Before I posted. None of it really pertains to my situation. I should have stated that my router/firewall is hardware- Dlink-604. I don't have the luxury of editing config scripts with it. The only thing I can really do is allow traffic from certain apps on individual ports. Therefore, I need to know the port(s) that licq needs to function fully.

Damn. Maybe check out http://www.pcflank.com/fw_rules_for_app.htm?appid=66 |
That link may do some good. I never found anything that explicit. I'll try it tonight. It will all depend on how close licq is to the original icq I suppose.
Thanks for the effort! I spent an hour or so searching around when I realized I had this problem and then forgot about it since I posted it ;) I guess I haven't needed to send a file since then. I really like licq though, and would definitely like to have it fully functional. The file transfer feature is perfect as everyone I know uses ICQ. It worked before I installed this router, so I'm sure it will work again. |
open up UDP port 4000, and TCP ports 4000-4100
maybe kinda late? hope this helps |
No, that's cool. Have you had the same problem?
I still haven't had a chance to test it out. No contacts online yet tonight. Strange... |
actually, i had the same problem back when using windows because of my router, have completely abandoned all that since I started using linux, didn't even know linux had an ICQ-like program. But ya, I know those ports needed to be opened up for file transfers becuz I wrote it down when I randomly found it on google. Anywayz, good luck man.
