I was hemming and hawing around thinking the OP would come to the realization that "Security" is such a broad topic, that he should re-think his question.
It's like "I want to know everything about Transportation" and a few posts later... "except cars".
What's wrong with cryptography? Cryptography is awesome. Implementation is a pain.
How about "Changing User Behavior" or "Packet Sniffing" or "Security of Medical Devices (like pacemakers or artificial limbs)" or "The Trials and Tribulations of OpenSSL" or "Denial of Service Attacks: What's the Point?" or "PHP: The Good, the Bad, the Easily Hacked"
Thanks for that John.

It's like "I want to know everything about Transportation" and a few posts later... "except cars". To the OP. here's a topic for you: Secure Email.
OP, we can try to help you, but you really need to ask specific questions. Habitual gave a great example of what you're asking, and there's no way to actually 'answer' it. It could be anything from "Be sure to lock the server-room door" to "Implement two factor authentication"...BOTH are 'security'.
