knoppix is safer?

If I use the net via Knoppix on a dual boot win98 and Fedora Core system can I get invaded by a Buffer overflow attack? Or does the no write aspect of Knoppix protect me?

Knoppix loads applications into RAM just like a hard disk based distro. Anything that corrupts memory is still a risk. The difference is that changes can't be written out to disk to happen again after a re-boot.

Unless the cracker mounts the disk and writes to it... even less likely, its still very possible
