Is there a virus scanner out there that lets me check & fix windows2k from my fedora?
One day I was repartitioning my hardrive with partition magic. I decided to give windows more space. After I was done I rebooted under windows2k and then under fedora. Both OS's were working just fine. I shut down the computer and installed a 256 of DDR 2700. When I started up windows I received an inaccessible boot drive error. Linux worked fine. I was wondering if any body knows of a virus scanner the can scan and repair windows from linux or help me with this error.
Thanx,

there's clamav if you want something free, but i'm not sure if it can "fix" the infected files, though...
http://www.clamav.net
if you do a little googling you'll find several commecial antivirus products that run on linux, also...
what's the exact error you are getting??
does it remain even if you remove the stick of ram??

I'll try going there, and yes the problem persists even after I remove the ram.
It's called the inaccessible_boot_device_error. Sorry for not specifying.

i've seen on windows xp a similar error... in those cases it was easily fixed by booting the xp cd and selecting the recovery console, and then doing a "fixboot"... the xp error was something about "NTLDR missing" or something like that... after the "fixboot" it would work fine...
[edit]
according to this, win2k has the "fixboot" thing, you might wanna give it a shot:

If you do have a virus and know what virus you have, you might try going to one of anti-virus company sites on the web. They may have a download that can remove it, however you may need a bootable floppy that can read the NTFS file system. Running off of boot floppy is normally done so that you don't load in any infected system files from the hard drive.
The PM CD is bootable, and might have an option to drop out to a DR DOS shell.
If that is indeed the case, you may be able run a downloaded cleaner program from floppy, using the NTFS drivers the CD-rom boot process already loaded.
