Is there a Linux Zonealarm equivalent?
Hi Folks,
I've often wondered if there's a Zonealarm type program for Linux. I have a firewall set up so I'm pretty sure that no-one can easily access my PC from the internet but I don't know what is getting out from my PC to the outside world.
Any replies would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Mick.

Yes, at least roughly.
What have you done to help yourself? -- Googles, LQ searches, etc.
Maybe I can point in a better direction.
Please don't tell us you have tried nothing on your own, this one is too easy to just ask others w/o trying at least something yourself.

The main firewall in linux would be iptables. There are many programs (gui, frontends) with which to control iptables, like "firestarter", or you could just go for a config file based system like arno's iptables or roll your own startup script.
See the wiki here

It is hard to know what is going in or out unless you write your own script, if you need any help with iptables be glad to help out, although i'm only a novice when it comes to iptables.

Firestarter is great and it is very similar to ZoneAlarm. Keep in mind that it is still just a pretty frontend to the command line iptables
