Is it possible to knock down root password in SuSe 9.1 Prof
Hey there,
I need to change the root password on my SuSe 9.1 profesional. It's freshly instaled. The problem was that, during the instalation, I chose a different - non english - language. Then, after I was asked to enter root password, I did using english letters "wxq" etc. These letter don't exist in my language. I think this is the problem, and because of this I'm not allowed to login as root. Is the a salution for this? Help greatly appreciated. |
yes there is.
easy way: re-install slightly less easy way: knoppix or the live cd of your choice, then 1) mount your SuSE partition on /mnt/suse, then (as root ) edit /mnt/suse/etc/shadow and delete the root password or 2) mount your SuSE partition on /mnt/suse, then (as root) chroot /mnt/suse /bin/bash, then type passwd. |
thanks for your help
