iptables restart

hi guys,

i made a chagne in the /etc/sysconfig/iptables and gave
service iptables restart
the system got to hang.
top shows
modprobe 99.9% cpu usage
why is this so?

Probably a typo or syntax error. The /etc/sysconfig/iptables file is extremely sensitive to syntax and has a special format so you really shouldn't be directly editing it by hand. You should be adding rules using the command line and then doing iptables-save > /etc/sysconfig/iptables. Alternatively use a script with the iptables-save command at the end.
