try googling for ipchains, i don't know any links by heart, as i don't use it:

ipchains made simple

google "Internet Connection Sharing Using IP Masquarade"

there is a page by "munk" that is very easy to read, follow and apply.

Good Luck

I just wanted to say that iptables is newer and ipchains is only needed on 2.2 kerns (iptables with 2.4 and 2.6). You may have already known that. heh.

Imho the Redhat documentation was very helpful for my introduction to iptables.
Have a look there

linux 2.2 and ipchains are still used by LOTS of people with great success...

sure, iptables can kick ipchains' butt any day of the week, with it's connection tracking and all, but that doesn't make ipchains anymore obsolete than linux 2.4 would make linux 2.2 obsolete...

they all have their place within the TAO...

=)

2.2 is obsolete by definition, Obsolete=Outmoded in design, style, or construction

that's an opinion, not a fact...

the fact is linux 2.2 (and 2.0) are still used by many people with no problems...

Outmoded:
Quote:
1. Not in fashion; unfashionable: outmoded attire; outmoded ideas.

2. No longer usable or practical; obsolete: outmoded machinery.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=outmoded

1. we all know linux isn't about what's fashionable, so that's out of the question...

2. unless you can show that linux 2.4/2.6 (with iptables) can run on any hardware that linux 2.2 (with ipchains) can run on, i don't think linux 2.2 (with ipchains) is "no longer usable or practical"...

in fact, sometimes 2.2 is THE ONLY ONE that's usable or practical...
