IPSEC VPN in between Cisco Switch & CentOS Linux 6
 

Hello LQ,

I have "ipsec iskmp pre shared key" vpn establishment in between two distint cisco switches. (Ahmedabad to USA)

Now, due to cisco switch problem at Ahmedabad end, I was searching the capability of CentOS 6.3 whether it can handle VPN task.

So, is it possible to replce faulty cisco switch with CentOS & configure VPN ?

I would replace it with another switch ... why complicate things.

I would also get rid of that "pre-shared key == password." All communications over VPN, or anything else for that matter, should be secured using unique digital certificates.
