ip_tables module?

ok here's the deal...i'm running debian sarge with the 2.6.7 kernel. i downloaded guarddog to configure a firewall, but when it runs it gives me an error along the lines of

"ip_tables not found, iptables v1.2.9 can't initialize iptables table 'filters: iptables who? (do you need to insmod?) perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be configured"

i tried insmodding ip_tables, but it says there's no such file or directory

so i'm guessing i don't have all this set up in my kernel...but i can't find where in the kernel to set it up. is that what the "network packet filtering" (netfilter i gather) option does? and what exactly is it that i need to enable in that to get it to work?

i couldn't find any other threads that commented on this, sorry it's a bit of a newb question

Im guessing you may not have iptables installed, check your cd's and install it.
