Question Insufficient Privilege instead of Root Password Request

I am running Fedora Core 2 (2.6.9-1.6_FC2). Until recently, any attempt to run a graphical program that required root privilege would pop up a root password request dialog box. For some unknown reason, now it only pops up an "Insufficient Privilege" message box.

Where are the settings that control how a non-privileged user is dealt with? I would like to correct this so that I am once again prompted for the root password. Thank you for any assistance.

On many systems only users in the "wheel" group are able to su to root. Not sure if this is your problem, but it is something to look into.

What have you changed since it last worked...

Thanks for the reply.

Can you explain the 'wheel' group?

Thanks again.

Just run "cat /etc/group"

If there is a group there called 'wheel', add yourself to it (ie: add you username in the last field. If there is already a username there you can seperate them with commas...
)

Here is an example:
Code:
<snip>
wheel::10:root,bulliver
<snip>
