Installing libnetfilter_conntrack-0.0.50

I am trying to install libnetfilter_conntrack-0.0.50 in order to install conntrackd-0.9.2. The problem when i issue the command ./configure i am getting the following error:

checking for LIBNFNETLINK... configure: error: Cannot find libnfnetlink >= 0.0.16

Although libnfnetlink-0.0.25 was installed properly on the kernel linux-2.6.20-1.
