Installing basic snort


Does anyone know where i can find a basic how to on installing snort the howtos on the snort site all involve mysql and apache and acid i dont have any of those. I just want to install snort and play around with it.

Are you sure? I have the same HOWTOs and I think they are enough. You don't need neither myslq, apache or some sort of that stuff. There was INSTALL or README file in the downloadable archive. Read it too.
