It also runs off of a LiveCD, or can be installed on the machine if you so choose.

I installed Backgrack last week. It is awesome!

Yes, Nessus is no longer an open product (which doesn't keep the FreeBSD team from using it), although there is(are) an open-source fork(s). I don't know why one of the forks aren't included.

[EDIT - FreeBSD 6.2 includes Nessus 2.2.9...that's probably the reason FreeBSD is carrying it...legacy version.]

Thats dissapointing. Do you know if that means people who have already registered will stop getting updates? I'm gonna try that distro tonight I think. Have you guys tried STD Linux? I haven't but have been wondering about it.

Haha...I think I was trying to say, "it's a complete Linux distro".

I also found this today: Damn Vulnerable Linux

It's another security distro, but it's sole intent is for learning how to pen-test, whereas BackTrack is meant to be used by people actually doing the testing. DVL is not meant to be loaded on your desktop as it's full of vulnerabilties that you can practice on, and it's still in Beta version...but it's worth keeping an eye on.
