Question I need some help with rootkit...

Hey I think my desktop primarally running [F10]-linux has a root kit... at the very least it has some form of malware preventing the use of networking.

If I try to connect to a wpa/wpa2 personal network (MINE) it asks for a wep password.

I tried to contect through an eithernet cable and the dns failed out completely... I couldn't connect to anything (with IP too) even though it showed being connected.
---
I am formating my desktop latter today... I was hoping someone could tell me if I will have to redo my windows drive too... (it auto mounts I am wondering if it will reinfect)...

Thanks All

Honestly, none of those symptoms would make me think this was rootkit-related. It sounds like your networking simply got messed up somehow. When did this begin to happen? What did you do prior to that? As a first troubleshooting step, I would suggest you boot a live CD and confirm that your hardware (wired/wireless NICs and router) is working properly.
