I changed the root password, but the password for software updates is still the old one


I changed the root password, but the password for software updates is still the old one. I only have one user. I totally fail to understand what is going on. Please help. Running LMDE Betsy.

Hi,

sounds like your system is using sudo for the updates, so it is asking for your password, not roots.

Are these updates for which you receive a notification in the GUI? If so, I think evo2 has likely nailed it.

Can you update the system from a terminal with apt or apt-get or aptitude using the new root password?
